Dietetics admin costs you time and money

Session-based billing, PMB motivations for chronic conditions, co-payments that go unpaid and no-shows that empty your diary: dietetics admin is relentless. Many dietitians work without a receptionist. Others split the day between ICU nutrition support and private consults, documenting on paper and billing from a spreadsheet later.

The result is missed charges, rejected claims and late cancellations that each cost a full session’s income. Mobile Theatre puts clinical tools, practice management and billing in one place, so less of your income leaks away. Fewer rejected claims means a healthier bottom line.

Dietitian practice management software built for South African practice

PN and TPN calculators in the app

Parenteral nutrition (PN) and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) formulation calculators are built into Mobile Theatre. They support your own clinical judgement on the ward or in ICU; you decide the final prescription. Calculator results are saved to the patient record.

Nutrition support calculators

Built-in nutrition support calculators help you work through requirements for complex patients, such as ICU and long-stay admissions, without a separate spreadsheet or app.

AI dictation for dietetics

Dictate consult notes on your phone during or after a session. Mobile Theatre turns them into structured records, using built-in ICD-10 codes relevant to dietetics, so fewer claims are rejected for missing or wrong codes.

Patient history at a glance

Previous consults, notes and billing history in one view, whether a chronic client returns after months or you are called back to the ward.

Client portal with food logging and meal planning

Clients can log their food entries in the client portal, so you can see what they are actually eating before and between consults. Build personalised meal plans in the same place.

Secure client messaging

Message clients securely inside the app, so questions about their plan stay in one place instead of scattered across WhatsApp chats and personal email.

Telehealth consults

Clients can book telehealth consults in the app, so you can see people who live far from your rooms.

Import your existing client list

Moving over from another system? Import your existing patient list when you join, so your clients are already in place on day one.

Running your dietetics practice day to day

  • Smart calendar and self-booking. Patients book themselves into your open slots. No receptionist needed.
  • Automatic reminders. Patients get appointment reminders automatically by SMS, WhatsApp or email, whichever they choose.
  • Cancellation fees. Set your cancellation window; late cancellations trigger a fee automatically.
  • Digital consent and paperless admin. Send consent forms before the consult; signed forms are saved in the app.
  • Live inventory. Track consumables such as oral supplements and feeds.
  • One calendar. See your availability across rooms and hospital in one diary.

Getting paid: from PMB motivations to co-payments

  • Live earnings dashboard. See earnings and outstanding accounts, so you always know who still owes you.
  • Eligibility checks and direct claims. Medical aid eligibility checks and direct claim submission, so claims go straight to the scheme.
  • Pre-populated PMB motivation letters. Built from the patient’s details, diagnosis codes and your notes. You review and send, instead of writing each one from scratch.
  • Co-payment invoices. Sent from the app by WhatsApp, SMS and email. Each invoice shows what the medical aid paid and the outstanding amount.

Practices on Mobile Theatre collect up to 30% more, with an average claim turnaround of 2.3 days.

Secure and available everywhere

POPIA compliance is necessary for healthcare practices in South Africa, and Mobile Theatre is POPIA compliant. Patient data is encrypted and stored in the cloud. It is on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and works on any computer, so you can document after a ward round on your phone and check accounts from your laptop at home.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Mobile Theatre cost for dietitians?

The Bureau costs 4.9% of collections with the software licence fee waived. Software only for allied health professionals is currently R900 per month (limited-time price, normally R1,500) plus 1.9% of billed claims. Both prices exclude VAT, there is no long-term contract, and you can start with a free trial.

How do the PN and TPN calculators help?

The PN, TPN and nutrition support calculators are built into the app, so you do not need separate tools on the ward or in ICU. They support your clinical judgement on complex cases; the final prescription is always yours.

Can Mobile Theatre reduce no-shows and late cancellations?

Yes. Patients get automatic appointment reminders, and you set a cancellation window. If a patient cancels late, the cancellation fee is applied automatically, so your policy is enforced without awkward conversations.

Does it work for both private rooms and hospital work?

Yes. Mobile access, AI dictation and the PN/TPN calculators suit dietitians who document on the ward, while self-booking and billing tools handle private consults.

Do I need a receptionist?

No. Patients book themselves, reminders and consent forms go out automatically, and co-payment invoices are sent from the app. If you would rather not do billing either, the Bureau handles it for you.

I’m a dietitian using another system. Can I try Mobile Theatre first?

Yes. Start a free trial alongside your current system and move over when you are ready. There is no long-term contract.

Does Mobile Theatre support telehealth for dietitians?

Yes. Clients can book telehealth consults in the app. Secure messaging keeps follow-up questions in one place.
